Week 9 of 52 STORIES OF INSPIRATIONAL WOMEN

Life is What You Make It!

Own Your Choices: Live Without Regrets.

This is Petina Tieman’s Story

WELCOME TO WEEK 9 of 52 Inspirational Stories of Women! The project is designed to recognize 52 inspiring Women, celebrating the everyday women who make a difference in our lives.

WHERE DID IT ALL BEGIN?

From a tumultuous childhood to standing alone at 15, I chose to carve my own path.

Juggling two jobs and full-time studies, I embraced the mantra “Lives Changed, People Empowered” to navigate through life’s adversities. In 2007, as a single mother in Sydney, I reached out to a clairvoyant during a period of instability. Her vision of me speaking to thousands and changing lives led me to relocate to the Gold Coast for a better life for my daughter and me.

Determined to turn the clairvoyant’s prophecy into reality, I delved into extensive studies, earning over 14 qualifications in counseling, life coaching, and business. My holistic healing methodology has since touched the lives of many, particularly in Northern Australia and Papua New Guinea, aiding Indigenous communities and regional entrepreneurs. My efforts have garnered over 30 international awards, media recognition, and accolades from government and dignitaries. As a steadfast pillar of support, I offer guidance and strategies to those seeking to forge their own success.

WHAT DO YOU DO?

I am always on a mission to help and heal as many people as possible. The more I learn and do, the more value and capacity I have to share my expertise to help others.

I own and operate multiple businesses, generating over $1m/pa turnover – these include Complete Business Solutions (AUS) Pty Ltd; Australian Women In Business Pty Ltd (2,700 members); and Cairns Business Hub.. As a serial entrepreneur, I get bored easily so I need to ensure that I can continue to introduce new opportunities to grow my businesses rather than moving onto the next new shiny object. Every one of my businesses has been bootstrapped, with no financial investment. Just passion, hard work, energy and a lot of hours focused on growth.

Annually I coach and mentor over 300 business owners. I have also developed and facilitate workshops, provide services to fulfill Government contracts every year, and complete 15-20 hours pro-bono work serving on Government Boards, Industry Advisory Councils and Committees.

I usually provide an average of 5-10 hours per week of free counseling to people of disadvantaged situations including women of domestic violence or young people trying to escape the temptation of crime or addiction.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU?

My own personal journey of hardship is what has inspired and driven me. Something needed to change for the many of us out there who are without family support, financial support, emotional support and who are doing everything we can to prevent taking the wrong path towards addiction, or mental health problems.

We all have a CHOICE!

We may be stuck in a situation, but we can CHOOSE to do something towards getting out of that situation which usually requires the first step to talk to someone non-judgemental and appropriately knowledgeable about what is happening in your life and how to make changes.

HOW DO YOU STAY INSPIRED?

Over the years, I have studied and met in person the world’s greatest personal and professional development leaders and have implemented their teachings in my daily practices, then shared those learnings with others. I draw strength from their teachings, the research and studies I undertake, and the learnings I draw from listening to my clients and business associates.

Success comes with sacrifices, striving for excellence but remember to maintain your core values. Take time to appreciate life’s simple pleasures, cherish moments with family and friends, and celebrate every success along your journey.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR THOSE THAT WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

Embrace a life of clarity and opportunity by removing unnecessary clutter. This creates room for new prospects and personal growth. Invest time and resources in your aspirations, and remember that self-fulfillment is key to spreading joy among those you value.

Be proactive in seeking support when needed, stepping beyond your comfort zone to ask for assistance. Discover what ignites your passion and pursue it with a sustainable financial strategy. Rely on your own drive to achieve your goals, and delegate lesser tasks to focus on what truly matters—leveraging your unique talents for greater success.

HOW DO YOU GET PAST SELF-DOUBT?

Fake it til you make it! That’s one of my favourites!

As a seasoned speaker and trainer, I still experience pre-presentation jitters and the fear of being judged. I push past these nerves by embracing a confident demeanor and focusing on delivering engaging and valuable content. My commitment to personal growth involves a monthly investment of 15-20 hours in self-development to enhance my professional capabilities.

WHAT GIVES YOU HOPE FOR THE FUTURE OF WOMEN?

I focus on advocating for individual value rather than gender or pay equity. Throughout my career in predominantly male industries, I’ve consistently secured fair compensation by standing firm on my worth. I believe that women have ample resources to achieve their ambitions, provided they prioritize their own development over self-sacrifice. It’s crucial for women to understand that pursuing personal fulfillment is not selfish but rather a path to a more impactful and successful life.
